I was recently tagged by [info]boofadil, so here this goes...

1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.
3. At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people.

1. I grew up drinking nothing but Pepsi products, and now I will boycott a restaurant if it doesn't serve Diet Coke. Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and all of those products taste gross to me. The only exception is Slice, because it's pretty much impossible to mess up the lemon-lime combo.
2. I had several cats growing up -- Scruffy, Ernie Pumpkin, Bert Tiger, and Chester. Now I'm deathly allergic to cats. My eyes and throat swell shut when I'm around them. Definitely a dog lover.
3. I learned how to play poker so that I would have an opportunity to flirt with my now-husband, who played all the time with a group of mutual friends.
4. I was salutatorian of my high school graduating class after receiving one A-minus in my Algebra 2 class. The interesting part of the story is that my teacher was the mother of the person who ended up being valedictorian as a result. I plan to write a satire about this someday.
5. I was an English major in college, but I hate reading. I am notorious for starting books and not finishing them. I got through my degree by taking lots of film, writing, and grammar/language acquisition classes.
6. My middle name is Rose. That's also my mom and grandmother's middle name and my great-grandmother's first name. Eventually, it will be my daughter's middle name too.
7. I have a pretty big thing for John Mayer and have all of his albums on vinyl and framed in my writing room at home.
8. I have a highly seasonal rotation of Bath and Body Works products. Warm Vanilla Sugar in late fall/winter, Sweet Pea in spring and early fall, Juniper Breeze in the summer. But the Eucalyptus Spearmint massage lotion is the best.

I'm tagging the following 8 people because they are ones from my flist that I don't know really well, and they haven't already been tagged by [info]boofadil. I won't be upset, though, if you don't do the meme. [info]ariaadagio, [info]darkandtwisty02, [info]liljan98, [info]macsmitty, [info]marmarand, [info]redgrey, [info]seattle_dreams, and [info]tracyhodgkins.

Many the Miles update is done and sent off to my super awesome beta! Should be up this weekend, after she cleans up my sloppiness after being out of writing practice for so long. *g*

YAY!

I still find it fascinating that you hate to read. That said, I'm so with you. I have so many books that I've started only to cast them aside after a few chapters. I have the attention span of a 4-year-old if I don't already care about the characters.

Cats are the devil. Along with teenage girls.

I'm a Coke girl through and through.

I love the name Rose. I can probably blame Doctor Who, but it's pretty.

I think the reading issue stems from the fact that I read so much non-fiction when I was in high school and college and involved in debate. I got into the habit of reading a chapter here or there without needing to finish a book, and it didn't matter so much if I let something sit for a while -- it still made sense when I went back to it. Fiction, though, doesn't work that way, and I find reading laboriously slow. Every once in a while I'll find a book that really hooks me in, but it's usually the result of a weird confluence of events. So many books, even ones I've enjoyed, remain unfinished. *shrugs*

It strikes me as unusual that a writer (and you are one) doesn't like to read. Thinking about it, the one hasn't really got anything to do with the other, but still... it surprised me.

I'm still lacking three random but still intersting things for my list. I have to think about it some more, but I will come up with some.
